Wired, up close
This is the guy you will run to if something goes drastically wrong in your household wiring, though hopefully your AC breakers will have already tripped. Keep it within easy reach of the shortest adult in the house and out of the reach of curious toddlers. Of course you would want this off if you are still installing the breaker box and the wiring beyond it.

There are no fuses or breakers in this box; you just throw the handle that disconnects the hot (black) wire. You can order a grounding kit for it though I chose not to. Instead I installed a grounding kit in the breaker box that is next in line on this circuit.

There are 2 blades for use in a 240 volt line, though this setup only requires use of 1 blade since it is a 120 volt line.

Initially I had been somewhat confused as to how all of the components should be arranged so I just more or less copied the pictures I had seen in the various articles I had read online. Then I realized that this would not work for me; the large mounting boards blocked off too much of the wall framing that I use for storing nail jars, scrap wood and other important stuff. Also I came to learn that the battery cables should be as short as possible, and all of the same length, so I rearranged the components to minimize the distance from their lugs to the battery bank connections. This really has nothing to do with the AC Disconnect since it can be mounted anywhere beyond the inverter but it explains the pictures.
