The Windows, Part 2

One screen installed ...

All screens installed

Scraping-sanding the 2 part window frame

Scraped and sanded all window parts, including the screw heads

Painting the primer – later, gloss white

Drying. Very windy day – dust;
primed windows ended up “textured”

Spacers keep glass from touching metal

The spacers and silicone are in place

Laid level so the silicone on the up side can harden overnight

The next morning the windows were hung and the crossbars with handles attached.

The crossbars will attach to the windows.
The handles will be bolted to them.

Inside is the screen's crossbar.
Behind that is the window's crossbar.

This allowed them to be closed firmly against the screen frames so that the final application of silicone could be pressed into the gap around the outer edge of the glass.

The 4 half-toothpicks seen in the image above were removed first.

Unfortunately, I did not get a picture of this momentous reunion of window and screen.

The handle connects the two

1 crossbar needs repair. Til then the 2 bars get bolted together to lock the window

Done!

Still to do:

Add insulation of some sort between the 6 awning window and screen frames.

Remove the broken crossbar and have it welded back together. Then re-attach.

After the walls are done, scrape, sand, paint and install the 6 interior metal frames.

Add 1x3 trim around the exterior of the picture window and paint.

Add molding around the interior of the picture window and paint.
